Hi,
I am not quite sure what you mean with "I had to check the radio". Do you have to cross off the NIC in winservicemgr to enable it to use DNSCrypt?
hi simonclausen in the windows network adapter config UI - i had to select the option to set the DNS servers manually the software did not set the option for manual DNS, nor did it set the server to localhost
Okay.
I have not seen that behavior before. Are there any out of the ordinary setups on your system?
i don't believe so win 7 x64 sp1 realtech adapter all standard stuff i think
if you don't other reports of this, don't worry about it - i'm not using a gui front-end anymore for dnscrypt
I'll leave this open. Thanks for getting back.
I'm having the same issue. First time user of the Windows Service Manager. I have it installed on WIndows 8.1 x64 to C:\Program Files (x86)\DNSCrypt\binaries\Release. If i launch it as an administrator or not it does not make a difference. I click "Show hidden adapters", check every adapter, select a provider, and click Enable. DNSCrypt shows the service is enabled and i see the service running under windows Services. If i open Network Connections, select properties for primary ethernet adapter, then select IPv4 properties i see the radio button for "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is selected.
I can validate it is not working by using the dnsleaktest.com website. If i manually adjust these settings to 127.0.0.1 then dnsleaktest.com shows everything is working.
Reopening the Windows Service Manager shows DNSCrypt Service is still enabled, but none of the network devices are checked.
I'm hoping this can work because your solution would be more preferred for me then the one listed on PIA's forums, although I'd need to test to make sure running as a service works when their virtual network adapter gets created: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/3999/how-to-use-dnscrypt-on-windows
win 7 x64 dnscrypt-winservicemgr.exe 0.2 dnscrypt-proxy.exe - latest version as of this writing Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
the adapter DNS server address is not configured - i had to check the radio to use specified DNS and enter the local IP
