mda string in SPUD XML IFF IRIS/Earthscope data? #276

@laura-iris The way that the IRIS/Earthscope station and network ids were extracted from SPUD XML involved parsing a grep on the string mda (metadata aggregator).

I surveyed the 7156 XML files that you provided uids for and found that:

There are 1864 /7156 files with mda string There are 5292 /7156 files without mda string

Can we assume the following relationship: A SPUD TF is assocated with IRIS data if and only if the mda string is there? i.e. are there 1864 archived XML for which data can be sourced from IRIS and the rest are from non-IRIS sources? Or is that not a fair assumption? If that is not a fair assumption, can you think of a test for the remaining 5292 files that would return True/False that the data are hosted by IRIS/Earthscope?

I asked our SPUD experts here, and there was no real answer to this question since it wasn't generated in house. We may want to ask Anna about it, she may know the answer.

Apologies for forgetting to respond here, but I talked to Anna at the USGS and she confirmed our assumption that any TFs that used EarthScope data will have the MDA link.
