I was lucky enough to be the one who registered for Bing Maps API keys when I worked at Stamen and we were writing polymaps for SimpleGeo. Unfortunately MS are now contacting me to inform me that the keys will expire unless I take action. I am taking action but I'm not sure if it is still possible to use developer/evaluation keys on the Polymaps website. I'll report progress to this issue as I learn more, but if the MS tiles stop working on polymaps.org then this is why!
