Seeing issue #2553 another potential use case for badges would be for groups to define gender/pronoun badges for their users which those can pick from. Those pronouns would be more visible than any placed in a profile description #5079 but it would be up to the group administration to define them so they wouldn't take up any space in groups where the admins don't want them. Which i think makes perfect sense. The group owners should have control over the group and the users should have control over their own profile.
Is there an existing issue for this?

I would like to see a badge-system be added to SimpleX Chat.
Badges would be small pill-shaped text boxes that appear next to a user's name in group chats.
Users would automatically get a badge assigned based on their role in a group. Observer, Member, Admin, Owner This would work well with my suggestion for a better permission system #5077
Additional badges could be assigned by users with an assign_badges permission. Some badges could be self-assign badges that you can pick from the sidebar.
Users with the required permission would be able to manage a group's badges. Each badge has:
And the role-based badges need to be defined somewhere. Maybe it should be possible to use eg a crown emoji instead of spelling out "Owner", eyes emoji for "Observer", etc.
Badges should always render in the order that they are defined in the group settings. In order to prevent each user having their badge order all over the place. What should be the limit as to how many badges can be defined per group (64?) and how many can be assigned per user (16?)
Possible uses:
Will something like this be added in the future?
