It would be nice to get this merged. https://www.drupal.org/project/smart_date and latest Drupal 9 core (with updated packages) prevent me from installing the module.

@simshaun Any chance this PR (or #206, both are duplicates) could get some attention? I too can't update a bunch of dependencies in our project because of this requirement.
