Should there be a decision for Thailand to build the Kra Canal? The idea has been there since the 18th century, and in recent times China has expressed interest in helping build it to get around the Straits of Malacca.

Most of the Kra Canal's value is economic (represented by an economic modifier?). Currently the Straits of Malacca are economically dominated by US allies. If Thailand built the canal, it could break the US trade monopoly on the Straits. China would also benefit from it, as they would no longer have to send trade through the Straits. It's like the Nicaragua canal but in Southeast Asia
