I've been thinking about this for quite a while, this scenario is basically on what if the Baathist government in Iraq dominated by the Hussein family was never deposed when the US invaded Iraq in 2003 and how the Arab Spring might have impacted the Baathist government. I think what could have happened is that a full blown civil war would break out in Iraq as the country was more or less a ticking time bomb from Iraq's disastrous defeat in the Gulf War to the 2003 invasion of Iraq since as you may know the Hussein's dictatorship was a Sunni dominated regime while the majority of Iraq's population was Shiite. This civil war would probably resemble like the Syrian Civil War with lots of countries supplying weapons to the various sides of the conflict and a hodgepodge of factions comprising the rebel side, however unlike in Syria I wouldn't expect to see the Baathist government winning the civil war as mos of the Sunni population is located around the Northwestern portion of Iraq an area that is landlocked. Also I expect it to be more or less a repeat of the 1991 Iraq uprising only bigger and a much greater chance of the rebels successfully deposing the Baathist government.
