Kasli won't fit in system board slot #5

I assume that the following holds:

If so, then we have a problem. Fitting Kasli in a system board slot would require moving backplane PCB by more than 2 HP. However, this will eliminate possibility of using the last slot as the rails won't fit before control section (the one with AUX and FAN TRAY connectors).

We would either have to sacrifice the last slot or rearrange control section.

For Sinara we don't need a redundant power supply. So we can mount the backplane shifted by 8HP to the right. Each PSU has an individual tiny backplane so all will fit.

For Sinara we can also get rid of AC wiring since we do not need redundant supply. We can use CPCIS PSU with the front panel IEC socket. This will save some cost. We don't need a remote power switch as well.

Ok, removing one of the PSUs would be a viable option, especially that design of the control section is movable. Still I believe keeping as close as possible to DIOT has its value - it's easier to manage the project when it has less assembly options. And we could use scale effect (or still its a niche?).

it doesn't matter during crate assembly. It takes the same time. Sooner or later we will switch to the Zynq controller.
