v1.4.3 missing project output files, outjob file and panel directory #21

With the v1.4.3rc1 commit, the outjob files and panel directory got deleted. Also the project-output and the panel zip files are missing from the v1.4.3 release

It's Technosystem policy to include only source files You can extract panel from Pcbdoc file. Just use previous version of the Outjob

@MorganTL Thank you for raising this issue.

At TechnoSystem, we have established policies regarding the release publication process that guide how we handle design files and artifacts. Specifically, we have decided not to include Altium output job files in our commits and output artifacts in release packages. This decision comes from our belief that manufacturers are best equipped to generate the appropriate job files and artifacts based on their specific production processes and equipment.

Furthermore, we believe that including output job files or production artifacts in the release could lead to the misconception that a working product can be achieved simply by downloading projects and submitting files to any EMS company. Our experience has shown that delivering a high-quality product requires conscious decisions based on in-depth knowledge of the project (e.g., while answering EQ from PCB manufacturers). It is our concern that supporting this misconception may have a negative influence on the perception of the Sinara project.

For front panel designs, we now embed the STEP files directly within the PCB design files, rather than maintaining them as separate Altium PCB files. This approach aligns with our current practice of designing panels as full 3D models, which we find to be more accurate.

@kaolpr AFAICT you are excluding the OutJob from the Documentation (in the sense of the license) and thus from the scope of the license. I can see why and it might be just fine.

What about the panel Documentation, is that also licenced like the rest? Or stated differently: how do you go from PCB Documentation to panel STEP files?

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

Just select the panel and generate step file

kaolpr commented 2 weeks ago

@jordens We create panels from scratch by generating PCB 3D model (without panel) out of the Documentation and by using this model to create appropriate cutouts in the base model of the panel (from Schroff). Description layout is also created from scratch based on information from schematics and legacy panel file. STEP documentation is considered to be included in the Documentation and covered by OHL.
