DIOT power module #14

One could design a custom power module for DIOT with the following features:

Similar low cost module was already designed https://github.com/elhep/CPCIS-AC-PSU/issues/5 It needs only bottom cover and some cap around the mains fuses I paid ~200EUR/pc at AISLER We already got rid of all rear modules The DIOT front interface will be modifed to also host the 1ppm reference source distributed to boards that would benefit from it like Fastino

I know, that's why I referenced it above.

About the voltage reference I wonder how you want to tackle the thermocouple voltages at the connectors. Aren't they typically much more than 10 uV in a thermally busy crate?

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

well, we are going to characterize it soon with new Fastinos/hvamp32

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

Let's go this way. AC PSU design is very complex mechanically so I'd go with 3 or even 4x 90W Meanwell converters

Isn't there plenty of space on 3U/9HP/220mm for a LOP-400-12 or EPP-400-12 plus all the circuitry mentioned above?

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

I've just noticed that we have a 9HP panel and don't use a 0.1" offset. That means we can install LOP-400-12 and some protective cover on top of the bare PCB to protect from the bottom side.

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

There are 9 HP panels available but only for IET Type 2 Handle

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

A version with 8HP panel image

gkasprow commented 2 weeks ago

we won't fit LOP-400-12 within 6HP panel without excessive mechanical complexity

jordens commented 2 weeks ago

It's a 0.2" offset as for the DIOT front interface.

Then for a 84 HP crate you'd want 8HP or 10HP (same panel as the DIOT front interface) to avoid the need for another odd filler panel. I think 9HP for a 63HP crate would be ideal. But the 63 HP crate does seem a bit exotic.
