ARTIQ Sinara user poll 2018 #19

Closed jbqubit closed 5 years ago

I'd like to conduct another user poll. I've based the current year's questions on those asked in 2017. This may permit a nice differential showing how the community has grown. Please comment in this Issue.

Feel free to play around with the Poll. I'll reset its contents and more widely publicize once we've agreed on questions to ask.

I feel like adding ubuntu 16.04 (maybe even 18.04) to OS options would be useful. You could also add "(or derivative)" for linux options. Perhaps centOS options would also be helpful?

I think that adding booster to hardware questions would also be helpful.

ARTIQ experience - there's an "Option 12" option.

I would be a little more explicit in the Sinara question page about what Sayma and EEMs are. In particular:

Rate your enthusiasm for using the Sayma PCB (8 channel 2.4 GSPS 16-bit DAC, uTCA form factor).

I would also break out the EEMs individually to survey, otherwise only those of us who already spend too much time on Sinara will have anything to say:

Zotino (32-channel 16-bit DAC, XXX update rate, XXX analog bandwidth) Sampler (8-channel 16-bit ADC, XXX sample rate) Urukul (4-channel 1 GSPS DDS) Digital I/O (BNC, SMA, RJ45 options) Grabber (CameraLink for Andor camera data) Clocker (Clock distribution/fanout over SMA/MMCX connectors) Thermostat (2-channel temperature controller) Humpback (ARTIQ interface and mechanical mounting for BeagleBone, Arduino, and similar boards)

Also, on the last page, I would change the displayed text for the links to for-contract features to just say "For-Contract Features", and I would put the links in the actual questions where they are asked, rather than at the top of the page (kind of hard to read).

"For-Contract Features", and I would put the links in the actual questions where they are asked, rather than at the top of the page (kind of hard to read).

The Form tool doesn't accommodate URLs or carriage returns in individual questions. It looks even messier with the URL attached to the question.

I've added several new questions.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll send out notice of the poll to the ARTIQ mailing list. @sbourdeauducq please also tweet it. :) -Joe
