allaki analog mezzanine: schematic review for analog input #165

Closed jbqubit closed 7 years ago

jbqubit commented 7 years ago

The following comments pertain to ADC_channel.SchDoc on PCB_mezzanine_analog_allaki. Recall that discussion of specification for allaki analog input is #81. Note that existing Issue #79 is design review for analog output.

Bugs and comments follow.

Here are some comments/questions, by no means an exhaustive list:

I copied all the comments to comment them myself

One more issue - use via in pad only when it is really necessary. Unmask it on another side to not create pockets.

dhslichter commented 7 years ago

Another point with via in pad -- want to have epoxy-filled vias for reliability of soldering/manufacturability. Boards like this, you don't want to be dealing with back solder wicking issues. I know this makes it more expensive but at scale the cost difference is not giant. We should discuss.

sbouhabib commented 7 years ago

I was also for having vias filled up

gkasprow commented 7 years ago

Ok, don’t forget to note it on gerber files

@sbouhabib What's the progress on Allaki? Please let us know when all the changes in these issues have been implemented and we can perform a final review on the finished design.

hartytp commented 7 years ago

@sbouhabib (or @gkasprow) ping. Is Allaki ready for final review?

jbqubit commented 7 years ago

@sbouhabib As we discussed on 4/24 please review all the allaki-related Issues. If they're resolved close.

@hartytp I had an email interaction with @sbouhabib and @gkasprow on 4/25. Here's their responses.

Allaki was finished a very very long time ago. It's a little bit different matter of A. Waiting for the tests of the afe mezzanines B. Waiting for formalities

The PCB is finished since some time. But we don't produce it on purpose. The board is simple (but expensve) and can be printed and assembled within 3-4 weeks. I want to test analog mezzanine template first with Sayma, then after we make sure it works we will produce set of Allaki.

My follow up was the following.

Please comment on review and make brief comment on outstanding Allaki Issues and check checkboxes. This will trigger interested parties to take a look. If everybody is happy we can close. :)

@sbouhabib Thanks for doing that.

jbqubit commented 7 years ago

Can we make the InAmp the default option, on the grounds that laser intensity stabilisation is likely to be the most common use for this ADC in the near future?

Yes. Let's make that the default configuration.

sbouhabib commented 7 years ago

The in Amp and the Values of the components for the Inamp are set as the default config. @hartytp: the values for the buffer resistors were taken mainly from the analog tool for diff amps. I would prefer to keep those now and try to check if the same values can be used for both cases, if any components can be unified for both routed we will test and than decide.

hartytp commented 7 years ago

@sbouhabib Sounds like a good plan to me.

PS Thanks for finishing up Allaki. I'm happy with the designs as they are...

gkasprow commented 7 years ago

@sbouhabib https://github.com/sbouhabib please send gerbers and BOM to Technosystem for verification

hartytp commented 7 years ago

AFAICT, Allaki has been sent for manufacture, so closing this issue.
