Just as a note, I've read https://github.com/creationix/nvm/issues/870#issuecomment-149286101 regarding proposed and current aliases for stable and LTS which do not exist yet. Until that is resolved using 4 and 5 is the only way to test the current/latest/stable versions of v4.x.x and 5.x.x :)
