Thanks for this PR! I'll try to review the changes next week, but so far what I've seen is looking good 👍

I finally had the chance to test your PR, here are small changes I made:

added a npm script to test it using the test folder
removed the unused var preventing to pass the CI
moved the image copy to the beginning of export to avoid copying exported docs to _hads folder if run from . folder
bump dependencies to fix a vulnerability (not related to your PR, but I took the opportunity 😉)
removed Node 6/7 paths on CI, as it's not compatible with these versions anymore

I allowed myself to make these changes as they are pretty minor and the rest looks good, hope you don't mind.
