No underline displayed for characters being converted with IME on iOS #2179

Is there an existing issue for this?

Flutter Quill version

10.5.5

Steps to reproduce

  1. Input Japanese in the editor and convert it with IME.

Expected results

The characters being converted should be underlined in the editor, distinguishing them from confirmed text.

Actual results

The characters being converted are not underlined in the editor, making it impossible to distinguish them from confirmed text. As a result, users cannot identify which characters are being converted during input, leading to a poor user experience.

Code sample

Code sample ```dart [Paste your code here] ```

Additional Context

Underlines are displayed correctly during TextField in standard Flutter, but the underlines do not appear for characters being converted in QuillEditor. I have attached screencasts of both scenarios.

This issue also occurs on Android and macOS, in addition to iOS.

On desktop operating systems like macOS, it’s possible to infer the characters being converted because the IME conversion candidates are displayed below the characters in the editor. However, on mobile operating systems like iOS, it is difficult to guess the characters being converted, which makes the issue more significant.
