Any particular reason? Changing the wordlist will break any existing users.

DonaldTsang commented 8 years ago

The official list is from the original creator's website archive before it got shut down. At least allow an option to switch between your word list and his.

singpolyma commented 8 years ago

I have not modified the wordlist, the wordlist in use here is exactly what was in the source code when I got it. There is no "my wordlist" only different wordlists the original creator had in different places.

DonaldTsang commented 8 years ago

So... the copy you had was the one the original author had before modifying into the copy i had?

singpolyma commented 8 years ago

Apparently. I have made no changes to the wordlist. I know the original author had several iterations of it both in the code and out of the code.

DonaldTsang commented 8 years ago

So who have a full timeline of his/her wordlist with all the changes?

singpolyma commented 8 years ago

If you work backward through archive.org, maybe? Not sure.

Looking into this, both the text file and the zip file haven't been updated since 2000.

This: https://web.archive.org/web/20000916041105/http://www.tothink.com/mnemonic/wordlist.txt

Is equal to the last occurence of the wordlist: https://web.archive.org/web/20091003023412/http://tothink.com/mnemonic/wordlist.txt

But different to the last occurence of the .tar.gz file, which hasn't been updated either: https://web.archive.org/web/20000916041122/http://www.tothink.com/mnemonic/mnemonicode-0.73.tar.gz

The actual difference between the two:

The sourcecode (equal to this repo) has: compare, concept, parade, verbal, college, quebec, reunion, protein, patron, profit, amen, satire, content, quasi, station, retro, capitan, format, plaster, polite, compass, postal, singer, domingo, justin, roof, iron, dominic, reserve.

The text file has: supreme, confide, dolphin, prefer, ironic, genuine, calibre, prodigy, idiom, parlor, combine, mystic, android, include, lily, absurd, prosper, annex, impress, leopard, gelatin, anagram, botanic, tavern, armani, deposit, obscure, define, margin.

I'm not sure which of the two is the newest version, but in my opinion the words from the source seem slightly more concrete and memorable. So it's probably best to keep this wordlist as-is.

DonaldTsang commented 8 years ago

Could you write the source code so you can switch between the two versions? They both have some easy words and some hard words, and i am not going to judge either.
