Is there a newer more maintained way to do this?

I just found https://github.com/ckan/ckanapi and created this issue: "DOC: How to read data into pandas / dask / xarray" https://github.com/ckan/ckanapi/issues/145 with some links to requests-cache (pandas-datareader) and CacheControl.
