I too am interested in seeing a mechanism to add library and packages 
dependency. I would really like to see a way to do this without requiring a 
computer attached (I code on the go). I know there is a requirement that these 
be pure python. Is there a way to tell programatically, at pypi or elsewhere?

I just added egg support to http://code.google.com/p/python-for-android would 
you mind checking it out. Easy Install is no way so far.
