Unable to adjust grid colours for optimum viewing #589

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use of LCD Monitor

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Clearly defined grid, vague grey spots that disappear when zooming

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest version on windows

Please provide any additional information below.
Older people use brighter screens, therfore the contrast between page colours 
and grid colours becomes an issue
