Max memory limits not respected #46

Steps to reproduce:

1. Fly from Moon to Earth, orbit Earth a few times

Process hits > 400 MB heap, should start paging out textures after awhile.

Was able to reproduce this on Mac OSX by orbiting earth zooming in, and changing
views a few times. UI stopped responding, 100% CPU usage, out of memory errors 
from
console.
