Alright, this is the error:

So Wformat-security is enabled by default from 13.04. Since I was not able to 
fix the C code, I went ahead the dirty way to edit my '/etc/R/Makefile' and 
changed:

Thank you for the patch, it appears this issue comes up in some of our legacy 
code.  I have updated this in the attached version, let me know if this fixes 
your issue

I had the same issue. The fix worked for me. Can you make put it up as a 
regular download, took me some time to find this after going through the 
install and setup tutorial.
