Battery packs will turn off if they aren't putting out enough power. You can keep them on by wiring them to a resistor, or better yet use a transistor with a microcontroller to alternate the high current on/off.
I think this might be a good use-case for a resistor box. It does get annoying to fish resistors from a little baggie and test them in sequence.
A little box with toggles would be nice. :sunglasses:
