viridis not working after updating to ubuntu 20.04 #67

Open sahwa opened 4 years ago

sahwa commented 4 years ago

Viridis was working fine on my previous version of Ubuntu 19.10. I recently updated to 20.04. When I try and use some of the viridis functions (from the R terminal), such as the example here (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/viridis/vignettes/intro-to-viridis.html) - the command doesn't complete - the graphics device opens up but is blank. I've tried all the different examples and none of them seem to work.

I've used update.packages() to get the most recent version of viridis and updated all other packages.

Here is my sessionInfo()

I just tried installing the dev version : devtools::install_github("sjmgarnier/viridis") and it seems to be working OK now.

Same problem here with Ubuntu 20.04

sahwa commented 4 years ago

It's randomly started working fine now. Perhaps after updating to R 4.0.1?

@sahwa I'm not sure what it was. I could not reproduce this on Mac. I had weird issues with other packages (e.g., 100% CPU use and functions hanging for no reason) after updating to 4.0.0. All these problems disappeared after updating to 4.0.1.

Mine is working too. I haven't updated R, but I did update Ubuntu 20.04 so I suspect that may be involved.

I'm still having issues with the stringi package and libicui18n.so.60 which seem to be connected in some bizarre way with this problem, but I really have no idea (in fact this may be more to do with RStudio Connect)
