Considering the current situation, With a small team the development of the project will be too slow and maybe stops.
So why not participate to something like ( Google summer of code ) for example ?
I am not expert in coding and these stuff but I think it will help the project to grow.
Inkscape and a lot of other open source projects participates in such things.
