I occasionally come across posts like this one, written on a Mastodon instance without Markdown support, whose authors nevertheless use Markdown syntax to highlight certain words. It's annoying to read these knowing that the client I use does, in theory, support Markdown, and it would be a lot nicer for me to see these posts rendered with proper Markdown.

Since not everyone would like this sort of feature, it should be an option, somewhere in the display settings. A simple toggle labeled "Show Markdown on all posts" would be enough for me, but I can also see how a more complex implementation may be beneficial.
