"Error playing video" when loading GIFs #987

Describe the bug

I see a video (that failed to load a thumbnail). Trying to play it will start loading the video for a short moment, then a toast shows up saying "Error playing video"

To reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. find a post with a video
  2. click on the video to play it

Does this happen in the official app?

Maybe, I couldn't test it, the mastodon app (fdroid and play store) both crash when scrolling down the timeline faster than I can find a video to test

it seems like actual videos work, but GIFs are the ones that are broken
