Is there a way to specify maximum width of boxes?

No, but line breaks are supported so you already have full control over the text presentation.

I used some boxes for "documentation" and found manual word wrap very tedious and error-prone...

It's not a big deal but I could use a #max-width parameter if it's implemented in the future.
