Thanks, though I decided on different wording. I don't want to make assumptions about the user's shell. Even I myself maintain a distribution with a non-bash shell. Nor assume the appropriate way to set environment variables, e.g. ~/.config/environment.d/ may be better so that the desktop environment sees it.
(The fact that this continues to be a difficult stumbling block is a long-term failing of essentially every operating system.)
Otherwise it's not found by default
