I looked into fixing this, and it seems like it's already implemented. Code is
already there for it and it seems to work fine on my phone. Please test whether
it
works for you and, if not, report what version you're running on what OS.

Actually, now that I've downloaded version 0.91, it does seem to work for the
most part, although I have noticed my phone's "I found wifi networks" icon
appears
sometimes still, even though my phone says my wifi setting is off and tethering
is
also off. I uninstalled the app to see if that was the cause, and I haven't
seen the
problem since. I'll reinstall and see if it comes back.

I think I figured out your issue. There was a bug where if you start tether,
back out
of the app, re-enter, and stop tether, it would lose the stored wifi state. I
fixed
this in the latest pre-release version. If you experience this issue again, let
us know.

I downloaded and tried that 0.94pre3 version for a couple days. I am still
noticing
(after having it installed and activating tether at least once) that while
tethering
is deactivated, and the wifi setting is off, I'm still occasionally seeing the
Wifi
networks available icon. When uninstalling the program, this behavior goes away.

Not a bug ...

I guess the question for damccull, is are you seeing 'wifi networks available'
on
your phone or on your PC? the above forum link only discusses the later (seeing
the
tethering link 'available' on the PC even after disabling tethering), where if
you
are still seeing random wifi hotspots pop up on your phone (not related to
tethering), even with wifi disabled, then there is a problem.
