There already is a way to import the games with offline scrapers. See here:

Yes but the information provided is for an old version of mame, 139 i think,
where as the new version is up to 142 or higher. I wish maws would just come
back online. :D

Sorry for not responding earlier. I am not sure why it would be important to be
up to date with the MAME versions. Do the CRC values of the games change from
time to time?

While I wrote this about the crc values, it came to my mind that the current
parser does not even use the crc values. It uses the rom names. Afaik they are
unique in MAME and should be stable even with new release of MAME. Right?

Will there ever be a scrapper for MAME? The offline one is great, just have to
spin up a VM to get the artwork (which I'm hoping is not a crap load of data to
have on git, other wise ill host it myself). I am fine as well with just the
description too from the offline scrapper.

Not in the near future I am afraid. I know there are some sites around that
provide this information but I don't have the time to implement new scrapers
atm. Sorry.
