Water leak monitoring map #32

Open fileunderjeff opened 8 years ago

fileunderjeff commented 8 years ago

Take water leak info from 311 service requests and COH public works and plot it on a map.

juyeongkim commented 8 years ago

I might work on this if I can't assemble a team for Cycle Houston at Hackathon.

It will be similar to my houston pothole visualization

fileunderjeff commented 8 years ago

@juyeongkim that's awesome! I hadn't seen that before. Well done.

juyeongkim commented 8 years ago

@fileunderjeff Thanks! RStudio just released flexdashboard, an interactive dashboard for Rmarkdown. I plan to make the pothole visualization page into a dashboard.

We had something similar to this at our data jam this month (focusing on the 311 dataset) - @timabram and Ashish Patel worked on mapping leaks and did some interesting analysis. @juyeongkim - you can connect with them and see where they left things?

fileunderjeff commented 8 years ago

@juyeongkim oooh flexdashboard looks pretty neat. i've been messing around with plotly on top of ggplot2.

timabram commented 8 years ago

Hey guys, here's the link to the quick Tableau viz Ashish and I put together for the 311 dataset.

This area was particularly interesting too: image Ashish was able to grab HAR data that showed some of these places getting flipped within months of the flood using insurance money.

fileunderjeff commented 7 years ago

@timabram might be a lost cause, but do you all still have this analysis? There are some folks who would be interested.

timabram commented 7 years ago

Hey @fileunderjeff, here's the working Tableau link again. I'll pass along the raw data once I find it.

fileunderjeff commented 7 years ago

Thank you @timabram!

timabram commented 7 years ago

Hey @fileunderjeff, if anyone's interested in the raw data, they can find it on the houstondatavis repo for the April 2016 datajam. I also have some R-markdown output you can find here
