Local Direct Donation platform #79

Do you have lots of some specific type of supply (e.g. home car items, crutches, etc.)? Do you want to know what you can do to get your items to people in need?

It would be cool if there were an easy to find, and easy to use platform for people to find charity organizations that take responsibility for redistributing certain kind of goods.

The platform should have a search feature that returns contact info for organizations (if any) that will accept the item you searched for.

I had the good fortune of speaking to some of the Occupy Sandy people a few years back on a research project. Good inspiration. They started by setting every small group up with a hosted Wordpress site, then aggregated all the RSS feeds. NYTimes article.
