Missing on Google Play Store? #68

Open EdSforzati opened 8 years ago

Hi,

I have been using Open Comic Reader for 3 months + now, and have been recommending it to friends.

This Friday I found that Open Comic Reader no longer exists on the Google Play Store and naturally as a huge fan I just want to know what's up?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

well, someone flagged the app listing for using copyright material in the screenshots. Well, its a comic app, so when I took screen shots it has comic covers on it. It was up for at least 3 years without an issue. I quickly changed the images by censoring the covers with black boxes and text saying "Cover Censored - Google Copyright No-No". I'm being dickish about it, so I'm sure I'm going to get rejected, if so I'll be less dickish with another round of edits but if they let the images pass, all the better. So much for fair use.

Hi SketchPunk,

Haha thanks for the info, I think you're going at it completely the right way to be honest!

Anyway, thanks for the awesome app, I'll be waiting patiently for the return.

Also, imagine my surprise when I found a fellow blender user in the guy who created my comic app? =P On 11-04-2016 03:13 PM, SketchPunk wrote:

Blender? You haven't seen nothin yet. Recently I started planning on making an open hardware project to create a 3D mouse for use in blender 3d. 3D mouse with extra buttons cost like 300 bucks but was thinking using arduino I could probably make one at a very cheap cost. Then two weeks ago google announced the Android Experiment Competition, devs have to create an interesting experiment using google android. So I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. I've spent the last 2 weeks (many sleepless nights) to get a working prototype of having my android phone act as a wireless virtual 3D mouse for blender 3d. Happy to say by yesterday afternoon I manage to get the whole thing working very well to be worth submitting. I can use a few finger gestures to do panning, rotating and zooming the view. Then have a list of commands like scale, grab, rotate, extrude, etc working with a quick tap of a finger. Need to make a youtube demo of it and post all the code by tomorrow night to enter the contest. So if you're interested, I'll post a link here if you want to see the project in action.

But yea. I love blender. I've used it on/off for a few years but recently I signed up with some online courses to really learn blender3d inside and out, plus doing unreal engine course too. Hoping that maybe in a year I can start up an open source game. First one called Test Island, where it will be the test bed for many game mechanics I'd like to experiment with and build. All working toward a big and fun Action Adventure 3rd person RPG, so far the working title is "Lost Magic", building up the story and what I want to do in that game. So yea, if you or anyone wonders why I dont work on open comic reader anymore is because I'm in the process of working on bigger and better things.

Damn, you sir have me Intrigued, Impressed and Inspired!

I look forward to watching your endeavors, and the android mobile 3D mouse sounds awesome.

I am a programmer myself and hobbyist artist/modeller so blender is also my on/off dabbling tool, but I've also been trying to commit more seriously.

I look forward to collaborating on the Open Game projects!

Also, Open Comic Reader is superb as it is, if one day I decide to actually start learning Java, I have a few ideas, but seriously, I have no complaints. On 11-04-2016 03:55 PM, SketchPunk wrote:

Open Comic reader is now back on the play store. They approved the new images.

Side note, here's the video to the blender project I was talking about.

Thanks man, glad to see they're dim enough to accept the sarcasm.

Will take a look at the android mouse immediately.

With the last app update being 3 years ago, I wonder if you're still planning a new version? Saw you've started some rewrite, but commit activity stopped about a year ago, too. So any plans (and just "temporily too busy elsewhere")? Or is the project to be considered "stopped"?
