🔥 Your Pitch

One in five students, or 15-20% of the population, has a language-based learning disability. 70-80% of people with poor reading skills are likely dyslexic. Sadly, even in this advanced world we live in, there is only limited resources for the improvement of their condition. Since this was an opportunity of open innovation we decided to aid the less fortunate among us. Infinity is a game application for dyslexic people which is designed to increase the eye focus and reading ability of the player, furthermore, it has a web service support that gives the details of the player’s improvement statistics in alphabet recognition, phonetics, reading and analytical skills by the help of AI services analysis of the data from the game.

This game-based learning application is built based on the Multisensory structured language teaching principles which involve the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile pathways simultaneously to enhance memory and learning of written language.

The game consists of different levels of tracing the path exercises. Infinity uses the traditional right and left eight(or the infinity sign) exercise through which the student can understand the difference between similar letters(like 'b' and 'd'). This exercise is very effective according to research. An eight or an infinity sign is a loop. It is a bit tricky to trace because each time we trace its path even non-dyslexic people get confused which way it was traced. So getting them thorough in infinity trace helps them to master eye focus. Other game challenges include levels like tracing alphabets which increases the accuracy in writing the alphabets. The time taken by them to write the letters and the accuracy is noted and passed to the web application and the web app is updated with new results from the analysis session. Alphabet recognition and speech recognition can be done using Azure cognitive services Vision and Speech. The prototypes include: The Infinity 1.0 version, consists of 6 levels. Each level has different exercises for different alphabets. The game is built in Unity and it uses touch sensors to trace the path. Directional arrows are also included in several parts of the path for easy path tracing. The second component of Infinity is the web application. The web app is an ASP.Net Core web app built using Visual Studio and hosted using Azure web app services. The web application consists of 3 sections. The first page, being the home page is where the user can log in. Followed by the progress page, where the progress stats in different fields like speech, alphabet and analytical skills is added. It also displays a graph showing the learning rate. The last part is the stories page where the users can share their learning journey. This product will truly improve the journey of education of a dyslexic person because scientists have already proved that dyslexic people are more imaginative than normal people and using creative methods for helping them will certainly elevate their ability to learn more faster.

🔦 Any other specific thing you want to highlight?

(Optional) There are no other gaming platforms specially designed for dyslexic people with such recreational benefits. Our product is first of its kind.

PS: Unfortunately, We were not able to deploy Azure Cognitive services due to technical issues.
