Pitch
Ever wondered why the kids are inattentive in class? The answer may be that they are bored with the traditional ways of teaching. Books provide 2D knowledge, which lack visual representations of the content. Research has shown that children have a critical period for learning language. Between the ages of three and seven, they must receive language stimulation. During this time, their brains are still growing and can more easily acquire a language. They should be provided with the visual knowledge helping them to retain the basics for lifetime. Augmented Reality is the best way to engage the students. It is seen how easily kids get distracted by smartphones and tablets? Imagine if we can leverage these devices for the good? Our application helps kids learn Basic English language skills (alphabet, word building, etc.) through real-time interaction with the 3D models. We provide a learning environment where the kids can play with the alphabet flashcards and scan them through a handheld device without any external intervention and fear of dropping.
Learn -O- Little is a unique educational kit that opens up your iPad to the infinite possibilities of physical play. It merges tactile exploration with augmented reality technology which encourages a child to learn with fun. It comprises of a set of educational preschool cards which put 3D virtual objects into a real scene showing a live image via a tablet computer mobile or other devices so as to achieve direct interaction between users and the environment. It has different modes like single/multi letters and word building with hand signs feature for the specially abled students. With our innovative technology, students will be able to learn and visualize efficiently for a better and quick understanding. The kit includes 26 alphabet flashcards, 26 sign language alphabet flash cards, a reflector, iPad stand.
Future Developments
The second version of our application will be developed for deaf-mute kids who have to depend on others whenever they have to learn something new. They would always feel disconnected from other people due to their slow pace of learning. They require visual cues to understand things with frequent repetition.
