I'll keep this in draft mode till I can verify that it helps in real datasets, and put in some benchmark numbers here.

Update: does seem to help on della. The remaining issue here is whether to use SLURM_NPROCS or SLURM_NTASKS, and what exact resource configuration to provide to Snakefile so it gets passed on correctly.
