For our purposes I believe "Army", "Navy", "US Army" "Army-Navy" etc. should be reflected in Family Name
based on the way its indicated on the Sklar website 60-1085, US Army Retractor and in competitor information Jed Med Army-Navy Retractors.
There may be another family name(s) associated with Army Retractors as well, Snowden-Pencer® Army Retractors and in these cases I believe we would treat them the way we reflect instruments with "Alligator" or "Mosquito" using a forward slash, as in, Snowden-Pencer® / Army.
If @mwmalinowski is ok with how I've described this above, I'll add it to the Data Style Guide Family Name
explanation.
Some instruments have a family name based on an associated organization. Examples:
Caveat: in Universe you may encounter a product with comments or rush memos regarding a certain hospital or clinic. These are almost always in regards to a particular sale/customer rather than the instrument's family name.
For instance, the comments field for 70-5180 reads "DENNIS/HILL AIR FORCE". These forceps are sold to Hill Air Force Base. Contrast with with 60-1085: US ARMY is in the description field because it's the family name.
So, since the scope of this data style guide is supposed to relate to the website, is it safe to say that when "US Army," "University of Minnestoa," "Providence Hospital" etc. is shown it should be reflected in the Family Name
field?
We could add a note about the caveat for the purpose of providing additional clarification to those will may use the data style guide in the future as well as Universe.
At this point in time I think we might derail the project if we get too caught up in describing the caveats and quirks of Universe. I'm closing this issue with the understanding that we may revisit it when and if a) we expand the scope of the guide or b) we create a sister guide for Universe.
Should Army or Army-Like be listed as a Family name or part of the Product Name?
