Redraw ligatures to current outlines #23

Open katef opened 8 years ago

Discussed in #13; some ligatures have outlines based on glyphs which have since been re-styled. These ligatures need re-drawing based on the new shapes for their constituents.

@skosch Here's the current f i ligature, with f.short superimposed. I have to say, this looks decent to me. Did these already get redrawn to match f.short, or am I misunderstanding what needs to be done here?

Would you prefer the arm of the f to be thinner? I could imagine it might be hollowed out a little from underneath, to match the weight of f.short, but I don't think the outer shape would change aside from that.

Okay, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I do agree hollowing out the arm is necessary to match the contrast, particularly towards 10 or 11 o'clock. Maybe match the shape of the cross stroke, and make sure the sidebearings are in line with f and i. I can take another look later if you like.

katef commented 8 years ago

Oh yes, I hadn't noticed the shape of the end of the cross stroke. So much for my eye for detail!

@skosch Is this how you want it? All I changed was the left-hand control point for that one horizontal bezier.

Much better already! Here's how I would do it: fi

Ah I see, and you're extending the vertical underneath, so the horizontal bezier needs less asymmetry. Thanks for the tips!
