Why did you join sktime's mentorship program?

  1. To gain valuable hands-on experiences and technical guidance in sktime's open-source codebase development from fello sktime core contributors.
  2. To be an active member of open source community by contributing to open source project like sktime!

What topics are you working on?

  1. Benchmarking Module Develop a flexible benchmarking framework that can accommodate various time series forecasting tasks, i.e univariate, univariate w exogenous, hierarchical and multivariate time series.
  2. Datasets Module Enhance the datasets module to handle diverse data sources and formats.
    • Taxonomy and searchable dataset #Issue 4332
    • Reduce datasets storage footprint

What are your learning goals?

  1. Gain expertise in benchmarking and performance evaluation of time series estimators.
  2. Improve understanding of dataset management and preprocessing.
  3. Develop strong coding and software engineering skills. Learn best practices for writing clean, modular, and maintainable code.
  4. Enhance communication and collaboration abilities. Regularly communicate with mentors to align goals and expectations. Document work, including design decisions, code documentation, and project updates on GitHub issues/PR.

What's next for you after the mentorship program?

Continue contribute to open source projects. Perhaps, be part of the sktime core contributors
