Long story short, we are not going to be able to use the E3SM data as out example data anymore, we don't have E3SM historical temperature data in the archive yet. So I had to find another model that had outputs for historical experiment for the three variables we are interested in. Instead of picking a model at random I used the archive to determine what data we did have and that is what this script is for.
Please take a look at it and let me know if you have any questions. You don't have to merge it into your repo but opening it as a PR will let you add comments line by line incase you have questions.
