did you try with WaylandSession=False disabled? Tell me if it works that way, just as a test. Don't forget to restart your computer so that gdm can start.
Yes, I tried it with original custom.conf
at first, then I enabled it for another attempt.
I also rebooted for multiple times.
Just curious, does gdm provide a GUI like sddm or xdm?

I'm going to rewrite some scripts and pass it on to you. then you compile and install the packages. Can be? Tell me an email so I can send you.

In README.md: "Things you should know GDM is a big problem since 2016, and I'm not going to try harder to make it work, BUT on GNOME 40 we will need it for some functions to work correctly (blank screen, lock screen), so with this configuration I used gdm will run like a deamon."
I downloaded, installed the binaries of gnome 40, and followed the instructions on slackware-current.
The default rc.4 gdm comes with
--nodaemon
argument. I removed it.I also enabled
WaylandSession=False
in/etc/X11/gdm/custom.conf
as I am using NVIDIA driver.startx
led to a blank screen, followed by 'Oh no something went wrong' which forced me to log out./var/log/gdm is empty.
