Selected Items in Manager not in Sync with Tree/View

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select an item in the world or on the tree, toggle visibility

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The things selected in the tree should accurately reflect the items in the
view currently selected and vice versa

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
Sometimes the selected items are out of synch, by this I mean that when
you have trouble rotating or the scalebars being represented on the wrong
object
