Volume data sets should not appear in tree unless volume rendering is enabled #483

The volume data sets appear in the latest dev version in the data tree.  This 
should only happen if the user has enabled volume rendering.  If user 
disables volume rendering, the data sets should disappear again.  By default 
lets have volume rendering disabled and the volume data sets not visible.

Fixed in v0.7.7, needs to be fixed in branch 0.7.8
