Tested in a new ubuntu LTS VM, intended state at this point is installing git, nano, snap, and multipass.

This looks great dude. so you tested it with an Ubuntu VM, on your Windows machine? We should test on an actual Linux machine. Different processors, Ubuntu vm or not. Will have different underlying architecture.

Yep, first tried docker and ran into what should have been an obvious limitation, docker was designed to virtualize the OS and not the hardware so I just moved the test to a new multipass vm for every test and destroyed the vm after each test.

I'm working on another commit right now, I'll work on the merge conflict when I'm done

Awesome dude put steve as a reviewer. If he gets a chance to look, he approves, and we test. We could do some merging.
