6 years ago There hasn't been upstream updates in 4 years it seems. Besides, 1.6.1 could conflict as well (unless you meant 0.6.1, which would be "going backward"). The version number is useful, especially during debugging, to check which version is running. If you plan to contribute your changes perhaps it's better to fork https://github.com/weechat/scripts
I am not sure about this : version numbers (the latest being 1.6) is the upstream one : https://weechat.org/scripts/source/jabber.py.html. At some point an upstream 1.7 version might exist and be in conflict with this one.
I guess if we really want a version number (which I am not sure I see the point of having :p), something along 0.6.1 might be better ?
