Inverse kinematics in SVG #1

Open sleepingdog opened 8 years ago

Figures such as people tend to have a jointed skeleton or bone structure. Dedicated vector graphics editors like Flash Professional feature inverse kinematics systems which model such jointed structures. We would need something along those lines, for the tooling at least, possibly with constraint attributes (so that knees cannot bend the wrong way, for example).

The limb parts are drawn separate from the body and each other. It may be simplest to draw connection lones (like strings with arrows at one end) from exactly the child centre of rotation to its fixed point on the parent object. This could automatically be used to 'stitch' the figure together during XSLT transformation.
