Build warnings on Windows XP for Visual Studio 2010 #128

When I do a 'build all' on Windows (VS 2010 on Win XP) I get a message:

Unsupported platform.machine: x86

The unittests application does not get started before throwing severe 
exceptions.  Anyone else seen these issues or have suggestions?
