Request for comments: corrugated anti-warping walls #1628

Some people print walls corrugated instead of flat to prevent ABS parts warping, like this:

Corrugated anti-warping walls

Apparently it works well, I've not tried it myelf. It'd be interesting if someone with experience could chime in and share parameters, then perhaps slic3r could auto-generate corrugated walls as required at some point as an option.

Might be better to just design it in. I would not like potluck prints, especially at that size...

Any pointers to who has done this work? It looks interesting.

Hi, I saw a link to this post and wanted to chime in. I built the parts in the picture with my anti warp panels. The corrugation works wonders for ABS warping issues. When I started thinking about it my first though was that it should be a slicer setting. Not sure how that would work.

I've printed a bunch of big ABS stuff and this design is working great. I would love to get others to try it and get some feedback.

I'm a programmer by trade and my hats off to the great programmers behind Slic3r.

Suspect the loops would need to be changed to be the wiggle (treat it as a extra-wide extrusion).

I believe this is better done in the CAD. I am quite sure you could design such walls with OpenSCAD, though the computation will take time.
