Now that the functionality I need is in: Let's make a better workflow:-)
This is a suggestion of what I think could work:
You can now click on user defined components in the components list (they have a little "|>" symbol) to show their preview.
There are < and > buttons in the taskbar to move in the history of components you had viewed.
Components have a label with their name and file.
Clicking on that file will make the editor jump to the right place
In Design Mode: You can change the Components name using the embedded line edit.
The "Add component"-Button is still hidden below the "User-defined" category in the Library. Clicking it will add a new component MyComponent and switch the preview to it. It will get created in the file of the component you had visible when clicking on "Add Component".
Earlier suggestions not implemented (yet?)
Move the "Add component" button into the task bar
Select Compoennt in element list, then enable rename with F2 or with another click. I think that does no longer apply.
