^M in header fields #1

after fetching the ars technica example, I got messages with these newline characters at the end:

Date: Donnerstag, 27 Juni, 2013, 07:30:43 CEST^M
...
Subject: Patent troll that sues public transit systems gets hauled into court^M

can this be stripped somehow?

Is this the mail as parsed by your MUA or the raw file ?

^M is the CR character, which is part of the field separator for mails. Editors like vim will often show it but the MUA are the one responsible of dealing with it.
